André Aciman will embark on a five-date UK book tour to mark the publication of Find Me, the long-awaited sequel to Call Me By Your Name.
Find Me (Faber) was published last Thursday (31st October) and revisits Aciman's two central characters years after their first meeting in Call Me By Your Name (Atlantic, 2007).
Next month Aciman will visit the UK, with appearances in Sheffield, Cambridge, Brighton, as well as the Jewish Community Centre (JW3) and Foyles, London. The author’s trip in December will also be accompanied by a number of broadcast and podcast interviews.
Faber has been supporting Find Me with a multi-channel digital campaign to drive pre-orders and will also offer various independent bookshops across the UK a signed letter from Aciman, written directly to the reader. The audiobook is currently an Editor's Pick on Audible and the e-book is a Best of the Month for Apple. The New York-based author is currently touring nationwide in the US to promote the book.
Faber first launched the campaign in July at a sold-out proof party at Curzon Soho for 250 fans. After a screening of the Academy Award-winning film "Call Me by Your Name" (adapted from the book in 2017), Aciman was beamed in for a Q&A via Skype, before each fan was given a limited signed proof of Find Me, the first to be released worldwide.
Louisa Joyner, publishing director at Faber, said: “I still remember when I first read Call Me by Your Name, and just had, had, had to publish it. André's ability to capture infatuation on the page, to whisk us back to those moments of total, all-encompassing ardour and the marks it leaves on us, is exquisite and unrivalled. It being a bestseller is testament to André Aciman's utter translucent brilliance.”
Josh Smith, Faber publicist said of the proof party: “We wanted to put André's huge fanbase at the heart of the campaign... We have since worked with everyone from Spotify (Find Me-inspired playlist), to Playboy, the Sunday Times, Vogue and MTV, to land this as a major autumn title.”
The sequel was first revealed in March this year. Faber published Enigma Variations, Aciman’s most recent novel, in October 2018, and his memoir, Out of Egypt, in February 2019.
Find Me has sold 4,797 copies in hardback so far according to Nielsen BookScan,
