Andersen Press has acquired a satirical YA novel about two boys and Norse gods by debut author Julia Gray.
The Otherlife is told through the viewpoints of Ben and Hobie. Ben is a scholarship boy who is plagued with visions of Odin, Thor and Loki, whilst Hobie is his former friend, a wealthy bully, whose undiscovered diary reveals a tragedy that seems to be playing out the ancient myths of the Vikings.
Fiction editor Chloe Sackur, who acquired world rights from Louise Lamont at LBA Books, said: “The Otherlife is a one-of-a-kind YA novel, powered by a huge imagination. Julia has written one of the funniest, most shocking narrators I’ve ever read in the amoral Hobie.”
Lamont added: “I first pitched The Otherlife as Donna Tartt meets Thor, and I stand by that comparison! Readers will be as entranced by the dark mischief of Julia’s writing as I was."
Andersen will publish in July 2016 in paperback.
