Indie publisher Accent Press has struck a six-figure deal for US publisher Start Publishing to license its titles.
The Wales-based indie agreed a "groundbreaking" three-year licensing deal with Start, which will publish 400 backlist and 100 frontlist titles annually, in e-book and audio format, under the Accent Press name.
Accent publisher and owner Hazel Cushion, told The Bookseller Daily at Frankfurt Book Fair that the deal included a six-figure licence fee and differing advances for frontlist titles. She said: "This deal helps Accent authors develop in these territories with the support and marketing of a local publisher. It is a fantastic new partnership and is testament to the quality of our titles and Accent Press as a brand."
Start is a privately held media company with interests in exhibitions, film production and financing, technology and publishing. It has recently acquired Night Shade Books, Salvo Press, Whiskey Creek Press and Cleis Press.
