Amazon Publishing has signed self-published author Imogen Clark for its women's fiction imprint Lake Union.
Lake Union acquired world rights to re-issue Clark's debut, Postcards from a Stranger, and to publish her second and third novels, the first of which is The Thing About Clare. Rights were secured from Clark directly.
Her debut, Postcards from a Stranger, follows protagonist Cara who discovers the truth about her family through a box of postcards she finds in the attic.
Clark's second novel, The Thing About Clare, meanwhile centres around a group of siblings and the truths which come to light when their beloved mother, Dorothy Bliss, dies.
Editor Victoria Pepe said she was "bowled over" by Clark's debut. "It’s a compelling and complex family drama that had me completely absorbed, and Imogen Clark’s fans clearly feel the same," she said. "It’s with great pleasure that we’re going to re-issue it and publish two new books by Imogen: she is the master of writing real characters and the secrets they keep behind locked doors. Imogen Clark is a debut writer to watch and we are thrilled to be publishing her."
Postcards from a Stranger is published in June 2018. The Thing About Clare will follow in November and one further (as yet untitled) novel is due for publication in 2019.
