Amazon.co.uk has relaunched its Rising Stars campaign, which promotes debut titles from up and coming authors.
Previously, the campaign promoted 12 titles on Amazon's site at the same time. However, Amazon is now highlighting four titles every three months. The campaign launched this week and the first selected books are Belinda Bauer's Blacklands (Corgi), Simon Lelic's Rupture (Picador), Maria Allen's Before the Earthquake (Tindal Street) and Erick Setiawan's Of Bees and Mist.
At the end of each three month period, a winner will be selected according to its average reader review on the website. At the end of the year, a "winner of winners" will be chosen according to customer reviews.
The titles are picked by an Amazon.co.uk panel and promoted on a dedicated Rising Stars page. The deadline for publisher submissions for the April to June period of the campaign is 22nd February.
Amy Worth, head of book buying at Amazon.co.uk, said the decision to highlight four books each quarter was that it was a better way of "introducing debut authors to our customers". She said: "We have a dedicated page for each author with their biography, an interview and photos. There are also customers reviews that have already came through. The campaign will be supported by an email campaign as well."
