Amazon.com is reported to be in talks to launch a digital library service with an annual subscription fee for tablets.
The Wall Street Journal reports Amazon is expected to start a media library service similar to Netflix for tablets and other digital readers. Subscribers would pay an annual fee to access a library of content.
The WSJ also reports several unnamed publishers were concerned such a digital library service would lower the value of books and could strain their relationship with other retailers.
The company is also expected to release a tablet rival to Apple's iPad in the next few weeks
