Amazon offers US authors free regional sales data

<p>Amazon.com has offered its US authors the ability to track their weekly print sales by state through Nielsen BookScan data.</p><p>Authors who are members of its free Author Central service can view the data, which is also categorised by format. Nielsen BookScan estimates it tracks 75% of books sold in the United States.</p><p>Author Central also allows authors to share information about themselves and their work with readers. They can view and edit their bibliography, upload cover images, videos blogs and tour event information. The Author Central service is also available in the UK, Germany and Japan although British authors are currently unable to track regional sales data.</p><p>Russ Grandinetti, vice president, Amazon, said: &quot;We hope this creates an improved feedback loop for authors and enables them to develop more effective methods for reaching the widest possible audience.&quot;</p>
