Amazon offers 70% royalty rate for UK e-books

<p>Amazon.co.uk is offering a 70% royalty rate for its Kindle Digital Text Platform, allowing authors to sell their e-books directly to customers.</p><p>The royalty rate is based on the list price of the book, which must be between &pound;1.49 and &pound;6.99 and 20% lower than the physical book&#39;s price. Delivery costs are based on file size and pricing is set at 10p per MB. Amazon said a median file size of 368KB would lead to delivery costs of 4p.</p><p>Greg Greeley, Amazon vice president for European retail, said: &quot;The 70 percent royalty option for Kindle Digital Text Platform has been available for a few months for sales to US customers. We are excited to be able to announce the launch of the 70 percent royalty option in the UK. Now authors and publishers worldwide can offer more content to Kindle customers in the UK and make more money from the books they sell.&quot;</p>
