Amazon launches Kindle store for iPhone

<p> has launched a version of its Kindle e-book store for the Apple iPhone and iPod Touch. The retailer launched its Kindle iPhone application to customers in the US in March. Now when customers click on &quot;Get Books&quot; in the app, they are taken to a specially tailored version of the Kindle store for users of Apple devices on the Safari web browser.</p><p>There are 280,000 books available from the Kindle store, including 106 of 112<em> New York Times</em> bestsellers and most new release titles.</p><p>Ian Freed, vice president of Amazon Kindle, said: &quot;The most common feedback we heard from customers was that they wanted a better experience for purchasing new Kindle books from their iPhones. We&rsquo;ve been working hard to respond to that feedback with a new web site optimized for Safari on iPhone and we&rsquo;re excited to do that today.&quot;</p><p>The application is not available to UK iPhone users.</p>
