Amazon will launch Sunday deliveries in London later this month.
Dave Clark, Amazon's vice-president of worldwide operations, told the Wall Street Journal that Sunday deliveries would be rolled out in the capital later this month, with the retailer using its own vehicles to make the deliveries.
The news follows Amazon's announcement that it would soon begin Sunday deliveries in Los Angeles and New York in the US, with more cities set to follow in 2014. In the US, the US Postal Service will make the Sunday deliveries, which will be free to Amazon Prime customers, and charged at standard rates to non-Prime customers.
A spokesman for Amazon told The Bookseller: "Throughout the Christmas period, we will be making deliveries on Sundays in London. As part of our 'Amazon Logistics' programme, we work with local and regional carriers from across the capital who will be making deliveries every day of the week for the remainder of the festive period."
