Amazon's books head Amy Worth has been promoted to lead its UK Kindle department, in a reshuffle across the books team at Amazon, which the retailer could not confirm or deny when approached by The Bookseller.
John Gahagan will head up Amazon’s UK books business, with both the UK books and print on demand teams reporting to him. Amy Worth will now lead the UK Kindle content acquisition/vendor management team. She will report to Gordon Willoughby, who is based in Luxembourg and has overall responsibility for Kindle in Europe.
Darren Hardy now takes overall responsibility for UK books vendor management. Laurence Howell remains as senior account manager for the books vendor management team.
The moves were reported on the IPG Bulletin earlier this week, and appear to suggest that Amazon UK's focus is now heavily geared towards the growth of its Kindle e-book format. But despite attempts to clarify the situation with Amazon, its PR team was unable to come back with a response before this article was published.
