Amazon.co.uk and W H Smith Travel are the latest major retailers to confirm their support for Fiction Uncovered, the promotion focusing on midlist authors, as the launch date is revealed.
The retailers join Waterstone's and Waterstones.co.uk, Foyles, The Book Depository and indie bookshops through www.localbookshops.co.uk in supporting the campaign which is aiming to promote eight authors. Promotional plans are still being finalised.
Sophie Rochester, director of the Fiction Uncovered campaign team, also confirmed that readers' website Lovereading.co.uk will also partner with the campaign. Fiction Uncovered will feature as a special "category" on the site alongside literary prizes, with information about each title.
An official launch date of 19th May 2011 has been confirmed, with the eight titles to be featured when revealed. The event will take place in the 5th Floor Bar at Waterstone's Piccadilly.
The campaign has also linked with community site www.bookgroup.info to promote the titles through newsletters and reading guides for the site's reading group members. It is already working in conjunction with the Reading Agency, which focuses on library reading groups.
The deadline for publishers to submit titles to the campaign, which launched in October, is 13th December. The prize focuses on books which "deserve recognition but have yet to receive a major literary prize or media attention, or be picked for retailer promotions".
The titles will be featured on the community website www.fictionuncovered.co.uk with publishers able to recommend other frontlist and backlist titles for coverage. The promotion will include a range of events.
Authors including Paul Murray, Amanda Craig, Evie Wyld and Stuart Evers have also joined the team writing for the website.
