Cactus TV m.d. Amanda Ross has confirmed that the production company has struck a three-year deal for a televised book club.
It will be shown on a "terrestrial broadcaster" from January 2010, and Cactus has secured a sponsor, Ross told The Bookseller. She also confirmed that there would be a book club and summer read scheme, as with the “Richard & Judy” Book Clubs.
She promised that an announcement would be made in "two weeks" regarding the show. In May, Ross said a new programme would not be entirely book focused, but that she and her team would continue to choose titles for a book strand.
On Tuesday (1st September), a link-up between Cactus, ITV3, the Crime Writers’ Association (CWA) and opticians Specsavers was announced, for the Specsavers Crime Thriller Awards 2009, which will take place on 21st October. The partnership is a three-year deal between the four partners, with posters and stickered books. It follows last year’s Crime Thriller Awards on the digital channel, after the CWA approached Cactus up for this year’s series.
