Head of Zeus is to publish The Aleppo Cookbook: Celebrating the Legendary Cuisine of Syria by chef Marlene Matar.
Madeleine O’Shea, editor at Head of Zeus, acquired UK and Commonwealth rights to The Aleppo Cookbook from Michel Moushabeck, publisher at Interlink Books.
The publisher said: "Aleppo, now constantly in the news because of its terrible destruction during the war in Syria, is one of the world’s oldest continuously inhabited cities, and is home to one of the world’s most distinguished and vibrant cuisines."
O’Shea said: "This is not only a beautiful cookery book, but a timely one. Full of delicious recipes and photographs of Aleppo and its inhabitants before the war, it reminds us that the warzone we now see on our television screens was once a thriving centre of culture, commerce and, of course, cuisine."
The Aleppo Cookbook: Celebrating the Legendary Cuisine of Syria will be published in February 2017 priced at £30. For every copy sold, Head of Zeus will make a donation to the charity Hand in Hand for Syria.
