Lucy Menendez, W H Smith business unit director for books, is standing down after 18 months in the role.
She is to be replaced by Frankie Adams, most recently trading director at hardware, homeware and garden products company Wilko, where he has spent the last eight years.
Menendez (pictured) has decided to leave W H Smith to spend more time with her young family, the retailer said. Menendez lives in London, while W H Smith head office is in Swindon. She has taken up a new role as commercial director for Fortnum & Mason.
During her time at W H Smith, the retailer launched a successful book club with YouTube star Zoella.
“Lucy lives in London and has made the decision to leave W H Smith to spend more time closer to home with her young family, and as such will be taking up the role of Commercial Director for Fortnum & Mason,” the retailer said. “We wish Lucy every success in her new role.”
Before joining Wilko, incoming W H Smith business unit director for books Adams held several senior commercial roles at Asda.
“We are pleased to announce that Frankie Adams will be joining W H Smith as Lucy’s replacement,” said W H Smith. "Frankie joins us with a wealth of retail experience having spent the last eight years with Wilko, most recently as trading director."

Menendez replaced Michael Neil in November 2015 after he left the retailer in April 2015 after just over a year at the company.
