French books website Actualitté.com has acquired the children’s and young adults’ book news website LesHistoiresSansFin.com.
The name LesHistoiresSansFin refers to the 1979 fantasy novel Neverending Story by Michael Ende, which was first translated into English by Ralph Manheim in 1983 and was adapted into several films.
LesHistoiresSansFin will be completely integrated into the Actualitté site and will benefit from a number of gateways to be set up between the editorial departments of the two sites. Fred Ricou, co-founder and editor of LesHistoiresSansFin, will maintain full editorial independence, according to a statement.
Both sites were created in 2008. Until now, Actualitté claims to have attracted about 600,000 visitors a month, who include “professionals, amateurs and dilettants". LesHistoiresSansFin claims to be the only site of its kind in France and the first with a video base of more than 130 interviews. It attracts some 40,000 visitors a month.
The price of the takeover was not disclosed.
