French web publication ActuaLitté and the Decitre regional chain of bookstores have joined forces to create an online bookstore of more than 1 million titles.
The site librairie.actualitte.com will sell all the titles in the Decitre catalogue, which will be fully integrated into the site. Decitre staff will offer reading recommendations, and also look after orders, payments and distribution.
The aim of the partners is to promote online book sales, according to a joint statement. Decitre will benefit from having its catalogue integrated into a pure player media for the first time, and ActuaLitté will benefit from having a bookshop.
The two share “a passion for reading”, and ActuaLitté “has become a major internet media” for the French-language book community, commented Guillaume Decitre, the chain’s c.e.o.
Decitre, which owns three bookshops in Lyons and five elsewhere in the Rhône-Alpes region in southern France, claims to be the country’s third largest bookseller.
