Accent Press has signed a five-book deal with Kindle self-published author Jodi Taylor.
Hazel Cushion, managing director of Accent, offered the author a contract after her debut novel Just One Damned Thing After Another spent weeks in the number one position of Kindle’s top 100 free books.
Accent said the book had received 70,000 free downloads and more than 500 five-star reviews on Amazon.
Cushion said: “I was drawn to Taylor’s writing when I read the hundreds of five-star reviews for Just One Damned Thing After Another. Many of the comments were saying the book offered ‘something different.’ They have elements of history, adventure, comedy, romance and tragedy, all linked by Taylor’s witty writing style. I knew a global network of fans couldn’t be wrong. It has been difficult to classify such a unique series.”
Just One Damned Thing After Another is the first in Taylor’s Chronicles of St Mary’s Series, which offers a madcap new slant on history and follows an eccentric group of historical researchers as they ‘investigate major historical events in contemporary time.’ It will be published on 27th March.
The second title A Symphony of Echoes is due out in paperback in July followed by A Second Chance in November 2014. All titles will be released in e-book this spring. Accent Press will also publish Taylor’s first romantic novel The Nothing Girl in digital in May 2014.
The Chronicles of St Mary’s series will officially launch on the Accent’s London Book Fair stand Q405 on Wednesday 9th April at. 3pm.
