'Nerve-wrackingly tense' thriller to Pushkin

Pushkin Press has acquired a “dark and disturbing” debut novel by Inge Schilperoord, originally published in the Netherlands.

Commissioning editor Daniel Seton at Pushkin acquired world English rights to Tench from Podium, via Marleen Seegers at 2 Seas Agency.

Tench tells the story of a paedophile, recently released from prison, struggling with an attraction to his neighbour’s 12-year-old daughter.

Seton said: “On one level a nerve-wreckingly tense, shocking psychological thriller, Tench also deals with a painful subject in a skilful, sensitive way, providing real insight into an issue that we often find it too upsetting to think about.”

Pushkin Press will publish in 2017.
