Fronting a trade association for an export-led industry at a time of massive uncertainty about many of the UK’s future trading agreements can’t be an easy task. But as the Brexit chaos continues, Cambridge University Press c.e.o. Peter Phillips, who has taken on the Publishers Association (PA) presidency— continuing the tradition of rotating the post between trade, academic and educational publishers—maintains a calm, positive demeanour.

While many might be tempted to retire to a darkened room for an indefinite period, Phillips says there is no let-up in PA activities, despite the turmoil....
