Ross is boss among illustrators in 2016

David Walliams collaborator and long-time picture-book creator Tony Ross has topped The Bookseller’s chart of the UK’s bestselling children’s illustrators for the second year running.

Data for titles with identifiable illustrators in the top 500 through Nielsen BookScan’s Total Consumer Market (TCM) in 2016 reveals that Ross was the most successful illustrator in 2016, achieving volume sales of 2,109,594 units. His value sales for the year totalled £12.2m, nearly £3m more than the sum he recorded in 2015 (£9.3m) and some £2.9m more than second-placed illustrator Axel Scheffler.
