Double Dutch: a tale of the Netherlands and Flanders

"This is what we share" is the tagline for the 2016 Frankfurt Book Fair Guest of Honour: the Netherlands and Flanders. It makes sense: the lowland country and the Dutch-speaking region of northern Belgium have the same language and their literature crosses each others’ borders. But the GOH programme also provides an opportunity for publishers in both territories to tackle joint concerns about how to turn stagnating sales into true growth, the lack of digital uptake in their markets, and the need to boost Dutch translations, particularly into English.
