2015 will be a year in which readers will read and writers will write – for now, at least, that much still looks like a good bet. But for those writers, the writing is increasingly hard to make a living from, so the key battleground for them (and the Society of Authors representing them) will be around fair contract terms and reasonable remuneration. Individual authors meanwhile will of necessity continue to explore new ways of getting their work to readers, whenever traditional publishing looks like it’s failing them.
