An author's view of e-publishing

Stephen King recently reported that more than three-quarters of those who had downloaded the first part of his serial novel The Plant, available only from his Website, were willing to pay $1 apiece for the privilege. This means that King, being his own publisher, has already earned $116,200 (&#163;80,694). It is a sum that most authors I know would greet with a hysterical whimper and a request for a large drink. </p>
