Always a busy month, but this September is a particular whopper, numbers boosted by publication date moves from the summer. In a month like this I would happily have made any of my Editor’s Choices the Book of the Month, but Jasbinder Bilan’s Tamarind and the Star of Ishta is something special. She leads an outstanding month for children’s fiction, alongside fellow rising stars Padriag Kenny and Ross Montgomery.
