October 2019 New Titles: Fiction Previews

Hallowe’en is increasingly important in every retailer’s calendar and for booksellers, its popularity has grown far beyond children’s books. My pick of the dark and disturbing reads this month is Andrew Michael Hurley’s chilling third novel Starve Acre (John Murray). The proof cover is stunning and I’m glad to see it will be used for the hardback edition. You will have to read the novel to appreciate the full, terrifying significance of the woodblock print though.
