October 2016 Children's Previews

As you would expect in October, it’s another bumper month, and one that showcases the breadth of our children’s and YA publishing. Yes, there are festive winter tales, magical dragons and pooping dinosaurs aplenty, but anyone who thinks children’s books are saccharine and unchallenging would do well to look at some of this month’s picks: themes include racism and prejudice, refugees and capitalism, war, love, death and grief, and really demonstrate how books can challenge young readers and help to build empathy.
