I have been trend-spotting this month, not as easy in fiction as it is in non-fiction, but I’ve found a few. 

In historical fiction, the influence of Jane Austen continues (see also Gill Hornby’s Miss Austen). Helen Moffett’s Charlotte (Manilla Press) follows Charlotte Lucas, from Pride and Prejudice, as she marries Mr Collins. Mills & Boon’s first ever lesbian love story, The Secret of You and Me by Melissa Lenhardt, is a “loose” retelling of Persuasion
