March 2020 New Titles: Fiction Previews

March is home to some truly outstanding fiction this year. My Book of the Month is, up against some serious competition, Evie Wyld’s third novel The Bass Rock (Cape), a powerful, urgent read about the violence inflicted on women through the ages. Violence also runs through Sebastian Barry’s masterpiece A Thousand Moons (Faber), the sequel to his Costa-winning Days Without End, set in 1870s Tennessee. Also unmissable is James Scudamore’s first novel in seven years, English Monsters (Cape), which charts
life for a young boy at an English boarding school.
