March 2019 New Titles: Fiction Previews

March feels like a quieter month than usual in terms of big literary/commercial débuts, by which I mean those with plenty of publisher support—and, ahem, the accompanying hype—which all seem to be coming in April.

My picks this month are drawn mostly from established names—Siri Hustvedt, Max Porter, the astonishing new Sadie Jones (see Book of the Month)—apart from Mexican writer Valeria Luiselli’s English-language début Lost Children Archive (4th Estate) which, like Mohsin Hamid’s Exit West, explores the urgent contemporary topic of immigration which dominated the news as I was reading ...
