July 2020: Fiction Previews

These are strange times, and never have I been more grateful to be a reader. How lucky I feel right now to be able to escape into another world at the drop of a hat. My Book of the Month for July is the latest from Clare Chambers, whose writing I have admired for ages. Small Pleasures (W&N) was, for me, the glorious literary equivalent of pulling the duvet up over my head. Nothing else existed but this gripping drama playing out in 1950s London suburbs.
