July 2018 Paperback Previews

Summer readers of all stripes are catered for this month, with armloads of commercial fiction (Jill Mansell, Milly Johnson), thrillers (just see my picks, which I could have filled purely with tales of murder and suspense), and literary paperbacks (Peter Carey, Richard Flanagan). The Booker theme is strong, as the prize celebrates its 50th anniversary this year—as well as former winners Carey and Flanagan, John Banville and Tom Keneally also have new novels out in paperback, while the first ever Booker winner, P H Newby’s Something to Answer For, is reissued.
