January 2019 New Titles: Fiction Previews

Happy New Year!

January is traditionally a time to launch début authors, but this year it seems publishers are spreading their big débuts over the first four months of the year, and so it was the more established names that caught my eye this month: in particular John Lanchester’s masterful The Wall (Faber) which is my Book of the Month and Diane Setterfield’s gorgeous Once Upon a River (Doubleday). Other literary names to look out for: Adam Foulds’ Dream Sequence (Cape) and Tim Pears’ conclusion to his West Country trilogy, The Redeemed (Bloomsbury).
