Hot off the press as I write this—and likely to be the biggest-selling children’s title of the month—is news of a Diary of a Wimpy Kid spin-off, which will take the form of a journal written by Greg Heffley’s best friend, Rowley. But aside from that, and Jacqueline Wilson’s historical novel Dancing the Charleston, it’s a quiet month for tested bestsellers, with publishers looking to new and emerging talent instead.
