Granta to publish New Scientist writer's 'fresh perspective on climate crisis'

Granta Books will publish A Trillion Trees by award-winning science writer Fred Pearce.

Laura Barber, deputy publishing director, acquired UK and Commonwealth rights from Jessica Woollard at David Higham Associates. Publication is scheduled for 2021.

A Trillion Trees takes a look at what trees "do for us, what we’re doing for them, and how we might start a Great Forest Restoration”. Pearce has visited woodlands, rainforests and swamps around the world, and works as an environmental consultant for the New Scientist

Barber commented that Pearce combines “solid facts and vivid storytelling”. A Trillion Trees covers the environment across the globe, “from the fires in the Amazon and Australia to the phenomenon of flying rivers, and from how trees provide the world’s rain, to the magic of trees on [Pearce's] own doorstep. Pearce paints a vivid picture of the world’s varied arboreal landscape and its vital significance for each and every one of us”.
