Our top stories of 2009

Here's a list of the top stories you've been reading on The Bookseller's website over the past year.

With traffic to the site, and the number of comments, rising extraordinarily over the period, the most viewed stories reflect those attracting most debate (anything hub related, Borders, and of course everyone's favourite the Odd Titles Prize), as well as a Stephen Fry tweet.

In a bleak year for the trade 15 of the top 20 stories are retail related (in fact about either Waterstone's or Borders) while just two publishing stories get in, both about job cuts.

News of the Odd Title winner comes in at seven on this measure, in 2008 the shortlist announcement was our top story. But like I say, it's been a busy year. There is also plenty of irony to be found in the 20th story on the list.
