Yasmin acquires for Telegram

The winner of this year’s Kim Scott Walwyn Prize, Rukhsana Yasmin, has acquired a debut novel by BBC Radio 3 “Night Waves” presenter Gabriel Gbadamosi.

Telegram editor Yasmin acquired world English language rights to Vauxhall from Sophie Lambert at Tibor Jones & Associates. Telegram will publish in March 2013.

The novel follows a young Irish-Yoruba boy growing up in inner city London in the early 1970s, as the youngest of four children in a house of 18 people. The publisher said: "As the world around him is slowly bulldozed to clear the slum dwellings he inhabits, so too does a more complicated world slowly unfold as he comes of age."

Gbadamosi is a playwright and presenter for “Night Waves” and previously for the BBC World Service. Vauxhall won the Tibor Jones Pageturner Prize for Fiction.
