Parcel carrier Yodel is to be distribution sponsor for World Book Night, delivering 20,000 packages of books to the 2,000 bookshop and library collection points around the country for volunteers to collect.
World Book Night c.e.o. Julia Kingsford said: "We're very grateful to the publishers who handled distribution for us in our first two years but are absolutely thrilled to now be working with Yodel, who not only bring their experience and expertise to this partnership but also their passion for books."
World Book Night is also working with Crisis, the national charity for homeless people, and will be running book clubs in temporary centres across London during Crisis at Christmas.
Crisis chief executive Leslie Morphy said the development "will be a great opportunity for our guests to enjoy literature alongside the vital services and companionship we offer over the festive period." A weekly book club for Crisis clients has also been piloted over the autumn, catering for a range of reading abilities.
The WBN website has already processed 13,000 applications since its launch on BBC1's "The One Show" on 9th November. Next year's event will take place on 23rd April.
