Bloomsbury has chosen colourful woodcut designs for a repackage of the Harry Potter adult editions.
Artist Andrew Davidson, who was commissioned to produce the illustrations, said they were intended “to feel as if they had come from the pages of an old book, taken from the library at Hogwarts".
The jackets for the first three titles in the J K Rowling series will be available from 18th July, with the remaining novels following over the next two months. A boxed set containing all the rejacketed titles will be available in October.
Val Brathwaite, Bloomsbury children’s design director, said Davidson’s “beautiful” woodcuts were “perfect for a more sophisticated rendition of the scenes” and “a contemporary look with classic appeal”.
