Women's Prize sponsor 'not finalised'
22.08.12 | Charlotte Williams
No new sponsor has been finalised as yet for the Women's Prize for Fiction, organisers have confirmed.
Earlier this week the Daily Telegraph reported that technology companies Apple and Kobo are among those in discussions with the award's organisers, with Apple at the most advanced stage.
But in a statement, the prize organisers said: "Following recent press speculation we want to confirm that although we are progressing conversations with a number of interested parties, no sponsorship deal has been agreed for the prize for fiction.
"We are still hoping to announce our plans for the future of the prize at the end of September."
In July, the prize's co-founder Kate Mosse revealed that the award had initially been approached by 18 different companies, after the withdrawal of long-term sponsor Orange.
