Women's Institute launches libraries campaign
28.06.11 | Graeme Neill
The Women's Institute has launched a Love Your Libraries campaign following a vote to support the beleaguered sector at its recent annual general meeting.
It is urging members to sign up to their local library and write to local councillors urging the importance of their local library to their community. It has also asked members to sign a petition, raising Prime Minister David Cameron's pledge to hold a debate on any petition with more than 100,000 signatures.
The Women's Institute said: "[We] believe it is time for communities to love their libraries; to use them and share why we value their services, and to raise awareness of the threats to their future."
