Women dominate The Bookseller’s Rising Stars once again, in the third annual listing highlighting those people who will shape the future of the British book trade.
Just over 70% (25 out of 35 entries) are women, against 60% in the 2012 Rising Stars list and 66% in 2011.
Tom Tivnan, The Bookseller features and supplements editor, who led the Rising Stars search committee, said: “We do judge solely on merit, but the dominance of women on the Rising Stars is obviously an ongoing trend, probably reflective of the gender balance of the industry.”
Penguin Random House chalks up the most entries with Dorling Kindersley’s Dunstan Bentley and Random House’s Jon Salt, Bethan Jones and Lynsey Dalladay.
Also boasting multiple entries are Hachette (Gollancz’s Marcus Gipps and Headline’s Sam Eades), HarperCollins (Alex Beecroft and Amy McCulloch) and Waterstones (Melissa Cox and Dan Lewis).
