18.07.12 | Charlotte Williams
Weidenfeld & Nicolson has acquired "the nearest there is yet to a biography" of its founder publisher, Lord George Weidenfeld.
Non-fiction publisher Alan Samson bought world rights from Lynn Nesbit and Claire Conrad at Janklow & Nesbit for Conversations with George Weidenfeld by William Shawcross. It will be published by W&N as a £20 hardback and £10.99 e-book on 1st August 2013.
The book is described as including "a wide-ranging series of conversations" between Weidenfeld and Shawcross.
Samson said: "I am delighted we are publishing the nearest there is there is yet to a biography of one of the most remarkable men of our time, and William Shawcross is a matchless foil to him in this series of conversations."
Lord Weidenfeld said: “I appreciate my friend William Shawcross’ work in this book, which on the one hand updates my autobiography published eighteen years ago, and on the other unlocks recollections and strongly held views in a more unconventional form of candid conversations.”
