Weidenfeld & Nicolson is to publish a BBC TV tie-in by archaeologist, historian and TV presenter Neil Oliver.
W&N illustrated editor-in-chief Michael Dover acquired world (Europe and Far East exclusive) rights to the title jointly from Eugenie Furniss at William Morris Endeavour Entertainment and Daniel Mirzoeff of BBC Commercial Agency.
Ancient Britain will accompany an 8-hour prime-time television series of the same name across two series on BBC2. The book will be a guide to ancient Britain, and a travelogue as Oliver describes landscapes and their ancient past.
Dover said: "Neil writes as he presents—with great knowledge but also with passion and enthusiasm. I cannot think of a more perfect guide on an epic journey through nearly half a million years of human history."
Ancient Britain is due for publication in October 2011.
