Winners of Walker/Mumsnet prize

Walker Books has announced the 10 winners of its annual story competition organised with Mumsnet and Gransnet.
The judging panel, chaired by Anthony Browne, has picked the 10 stories for The Mumsnet Book of Animal Stories (£14.99), which Walker will publish in October.
The winning stories were chosen from more than 600 entries and include tales of a hedgehog who doesn't want to go to sleep for the winter, a hamster who might (or might not) make the perfect astronaut, and a bat who is scared of the dark.
Walker publisher Denise Johnstone-Burt said choosing the final 10 was a “difficult but exciting process”.
“The discussion was intense and stimulating and I’m thrilled with the final choice,” she said. “We are really looking forward to working with these talented new writers.”

Little Miss Wolfy Good by Jenny Louise Davis
