Wimpy Kid author files lawsuit against Zombie Kid publisher
22.12.11 | Bookseller staff
Jeff Kinney, author of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, has filed a trademark lawsuit against Antarctic Press, publisher of a series of books called Diary of a Zombie Kid, according to US press reports.
Kinney and his company Wimpy Kid Inc. filed the suit on Tuesday this week (20th December) against Antarctic Press in a US District Court in Boston for violating trademark laws by publishing books too similar in appearance to the Wimpy Kid series. The lawsuit says the books "are obviously intended to confuse the public into believing that the Defendant's books are additions to such series".
The Zombie Kid books are written by author Fred Perry and illustrator David Hutchison, with covers also featuring a sketched boy on a crumpled piece of paper.
Antarctic Publishing publisher Joe Dunn was aware of the lawsuit, but declined to comment on the case, according to the Boston Herald.

I have an unread copy of a Vampire Kid book sitting on my shelves. I assumed they must at least have been the same publisher. The bare faced cheek of them!
