Little, Brown Book Group has acquired the autobiography of singer and actor Will Young and will publish this autumn.
Editor-in-chief Antonia Hodgson acquired world rights in the book from Simon Fuller's XIX Entertainment, and will publish in October 2012.
Young's career began in 2002 when he was the first winner of "Pop Idol", and his first solo number one, "Evergreen", was the bestselling single of the decade. He released his fifth album in 2010, and played a sell-out tour of the UK. He has been the subject of a South Bank Show Special and has also appeared on "Question Time". As an actor, he has appeared in Noel Coward's "The Vortex" at the Royal Exchange Theatre, in the film "Mrs Henderson Presents" and most recently co-produced "Coriolanus".
Hodgson said: "I’m very excited about Will’s memoir. He is a terrific storyteller and his writing voice is just as appealing as his beautiful singing voice: warm; emotionally honest and intimate. He’s also very, very funny. We can’t wait to publish in October.’
Young said: "Writing this book has been surprisingly more fun and emotional for me than I would ever have thought. It often isn't until you look back on situations in life that you can see the real humanity, humour and madness of what was occurring."
