Fourth Estate has signed a second novel from author Will Wiles.
Mark Richards at Fourth Estate has signed UK and Commonwealth rights excluding Canada, as well as translation rights, in The Way Inn, in a deal with Antony Topping at Greene & Heaton.
Wiles' first novel, Care of Wooden Floors, was published by Fourth Estate in 2012, winning a Betty Trask Award and being named a Waterstones 11 pick, as well as being longlisted for the Desmond Elliott Prize.
Richards said the new book is set in a mid-budget chain hotel, and follows a "flawed but involving" narrator. "The Way Inn takes the polished surfaces of modern life, the branded coffee and free wifi, and twists them into a nightmare," he said.
Fourth Estate will publish in hardback in June 2014.
