John Wiley has established a company in Sao Paolo, Brazil, Wiley Brasil Editora LTDA, to become effective on the 1st May.
The publisher said the new company demonstrated its "growing commitment to bringing the world’s best research, learning, and professional content to Brazil, and the best of Brazilian thought to a global audience".
Philip Kisray, vice-president of international development, said Wiley intended to build on long-standing relationships with local organisations and pursue new strategic opportunities. "Our objective is to develop 'digital first' content, services and learning resources specifically for the Brazilian market as well as to improve the availability of our content,” he said.
Hegel Braga, previously marketing director for 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment: Brazil, has been appointed as Wiley Brasil Editora LTDA's business and market development directory and country manager.
Braga will "draw upon his broad business and digital expertise as he engages with the Brazilian research, education, and professional communities and works with local partners to develop digital materials for these sectors," the publisher said.
