W H Smith will open three new branches in Terminal Two of Dublin Airport when it opens later this year.
T2 is due to open in November and will feature 40 individual outlets across 9,000 sq metres of retail space including restaurants, bars and retailers like fashion company Azure, jewellery retailer Swatch and cosmetic company Jo Malone.
A spokesperson for WHS said the retailer would employ around 100 people across full and part time positions and will begin hiring staff this summer.
Retailers will pay a concession fee based on a percentage of annual sales instead of a fixed annual rent. WHS will be the only bookseller in Terminal Two after it was the preferred bidder at a tender process. Irish bookseller Eason operates five branches in Terminal One at Dublin Airport.
It took over the branches from Hughes & Hughes after the retailer went into receivership earlier this month.
Paul Neeson, retail director of the Dublin Airport Authority, said: "Retail is an integral element of the modern airport experience and Terminal Two will offer passengers a comprehensive choice of outlets. Despite the downturn, there has been huge interest in T2’s retail space and we are delighted to have secured an impressive portfolio of Irish and international retailers."
WHS also operates two stores in Shannon airport.
